Man wanted for sexual abuse of boy arrested in El Salvador

MANASSAS, Virginia – A man wanted by police since 2018 on allegations of sexually assaulting an 8-year-old girl in Virginia has been arrested in El Salvador, the Prince William County Police Department said Wednesday.

Nelson Romero-Quijada was sought by authorities after they launched an investigation in Manassas on August 13, 2018. In September of that year, police identified Romero-Quijada as the suspect wanted for sexually abusing the boy.

The alleged attacks took place between October 2014 and July 2016. The victim reported the incident to his family in 2018, who immediately contacted the police.

After being arrested in El Salvador, Romero-Quijada was extradited to Prince William County on Thursday.

He is being held without bail on charges of sodomy and crimes against nature.
