Police identify woman killed by husband in East Austin murder-suicide

Police have identified the victim and attacker in a July 3 murder-suicide at an East Austin apartment complex, according to a Monday press release.

Police responded to an urgent 911 call reporting a stabbing at approximately 10:15 a.m. on July 3, according to the Austin Police Department news release. Officers found two bodies with stab wounds inside an Urban Villas Apartment Homes residence on Airport Boulevard: Iris Hernandez-Perdomo, 33, and her husband, Wilfredo Chavez-Chincilla, 40.

Police believe Chavez-Chincilla stabbed his wife before killing himself with the same knife, the press release said. A motive for the murder was not given.

Emergency responders attempted life-saving measures, but Hernandez-Perdomo and Chavez-Chincilla were both pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
