Cristian Arango suspended for four games for violating MLS anti-harassment policy

Major League Soccer announced that Real Salt Lake striker Cristian “Chico” Arango has been suspended for four games for violating MLS’s anti-harassment policy.

“Major League Soccer has suspended Real Salt Lake striker Cristian “Chicho” Arango for violating the MLS anti-harassment policy. The four-game suspension will be served during Real Salt Lake’s next two regular season games on July 17 and 20, the MLS All-Star Game on July 24 and Real Salt Lake’s first Leagues Cup game on August 1,” MLS said in a statement.

What Arango did to violate the policy is unclear at the time of writing.

During his four-game suspension, Arango will miss the following games:

On one hand, it’s odd that Arango would miss a friendly against the Liga MX All-Stars, but RSL fans will be glad it’s not an extra regular season or Leagues Cup game. No explanation was given as to why his suspension includes the All-Star game.

Arango will be eligible to play in the second group match of the Leagues Cup on August 5 against Houston Dynamo.

At the time of writing, Major League Soccer has not provided any further details on what Arango did to violate the league’s anti-harassment policy. We will update our article as more information becomes available.

Arango will not only miss RSL’s next three competitive matches, but also the All-Star game. Arango has scored 17 goals, putting him ahead of Christian Benteke and Denis Bouanga, who both scored 14 goals, in the race for the Golden Boot.
