Buffalo Bills urged to seek high-impact veteran cornerback ahead of 2024 season

The Buffalo Bills enter the 2024 NFL season with a major question mark.

While the Red Sox could become a bona fide Super Bowl contender, they could also be taking a big step back from where they were in recent years. After an offseason that brought major changes, including the trade of star receiver Stefon Diggs, things have changed.

Josh Allen is still running the offense. He’s also still one of the greatest playmakers at quarterback.

With training camp fast approaching, the Buffalo Bills should continue to look to upgrade their roster. There are some very good free agents available and one of them is being talked about as a potential target for Buffalo.

FanSided’s BuffaloDown recently took a look at three free agents the Bills should consider signing. One of them is veteran cornerback Patrick Peterson, who is still available.

“At 34, Peterson shows no signs of slowing down. Two years ago, he threw five interceptions with the Minnesota Vikings. He’s only missed one game in two years, proving he can stay healthy for Buffalo’s defense. Peterson could be in the running for a roster spot as he nears the end of his career. If he believes the Bills can make a playoff run, that would be a good fit.”

Peterson is returning from a 2023 season with the Pittsburgh Steelers that saw him have another productive year.

In 17 games, Peterson has 42 tackles, two interceptions and 11 passes defended. Those numbers clearly show that he can still be a very good starting cornerback in the NFL.

At 34, the veteran cornerback could also bring a lot of experience to the Bills locker room. He could become a major leader for the Buffalo Bills when all is said and done.

While Peterson could make sense for the Bills, there are plenty of other teams around the league that could consider him as well. It’s very likely that he gets a new contract at some point before the regular season begins.

If Buffalo wants to bring in a nice defensive upgrade in the secondary, Peterson would make a lot of sense.
