Fort Collins teacher arrested for sexually assaulting a child

DENVER (KDVR) – A Fort Collins middle school teacher has been arrested for multiple counts of sexual assault of a child and police are asking other victims to come forward.

According to Fort Collins police, Poudre School District staff notified police in April 2024 that there were allegations that one of their teachers had inappropriately touched students. The teacher was identified as 52-year-old Evan King.

According to Fort Collins police, King was a teacher and assistant track coach at Lincoln Middle School. He worked for Poudre Valley Schools for nine years.

After learning of the allegations, the Poudre School District placed King on leave.

After a four-month investigation, detectives from the Fort Collins Police Service Crimes Against the Person Unit identified two minor female victims and several student witnesses.

King was arrested on the following charges:

• Sexual assault on a child by a person of trust – patterns of sexual abuse.
• Three cases of sexual assault of a child by a person of trust

“Parents expect that their child’s well-being is the highest priority of those appointed to positions of trust. This is an intolerable abuse of his responsibility as an educator and we are saddened by the prospect that there could be more victims,” ​​said FCPS Vice Superintendent Kristy Volesky. “Our investigators and Victim Assistance Unit are working to ensure that these students receive the support they need during this difficult and emotional time. Now that King has been arrested, we hope that any additional victims will feel safe to come forward.”
