Another hot and humid day with temperatures reaching 100 degrees in Brooklyn; possible thunderstorms

A heat warning is in effect until 8 p.m. this evening. Heat index up to 100 degrees.

An air quality warning will likely be issued later today due to high ground-level ozone levels. There is a risk of life-threatening rip currents at all ocean-facing locations in Brooklyn and Queens through this evening.

NOW: Today will be unbearably hot and humid again. It will feel as if it is up to 100 degrees. An isolated shower or a thunderstorm tonight cannot be ruled out. Severe thunderstorms are not expected.

A few isolated showers/thunderstorms tomorrow morning, with isolated danger in the afternoon.

NEXT: A slow-moving cold front will bring heavy rains to the counties Friday into Saturday afternoon. This front will use some of the tropical air mass from Beryl and a warm air mass from the south to strengthen these storms. Up to 1 inch of rainfall is possible, with locally higher amounts in downpours. There is a risk of street flooding/localized flooding citywide through Saturday.

The relentless heat and uncomfortable humidity will persist through the weekend. The third heatwave is likely to hit next week, starting on Sunday and lasting until mid-week.
