Boone Police ask public for help in locating hit-and-run suspect

The suspect allegedly fled the scene at high speed after hitting two pedestrians near Appalachian State University, police said.

BOONE, NC — Boone police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a vehicle connected to a hit-and-run crash last month near Appalachian State University.

The incident occurred around midnight on June 21. Boone police said the suspect struck two pedestrians on Rivers Street near Bodenheimer Drive. The suspect’s vehicle was described as a dark-colored SUV or compact car. The collision may have damaged one or both of the vehicle’s headlights. The driver sped off toward Bodenheimer Drive, police said.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call High Country Crime Stoppers at 828-268-6959. Witnesses can also call Boone Police at 828-268-6900. Tips can be texted “NCTIP” to 274637. All information will be kept confidential and information leading to an arrest may be rewarded with a cash reward.
