Rick Ross was attacked after concert, as footage shows

A video published by TMZ shows a group of men attacking Ross – but it has since been removed from YouTube.

Rapper Rick Ross was reportedly attacked at the Ignite Music Festival in Vancouver on Sunday night. A video released by TMZ shows a group of about 15 men attacking Ross backstage after his performance. However, the clip was removed from YouTube because it contains too graphic depictions. The dispute started because Ross played Kendrick Lamar’s song “Not Like Us,” a diss track against Canadian rapper Drake.

Ross reportedly finished his performance at around 10:30pm on Sunday night, and as he left the stage, “Not Like Us” blared from the speakers. The video shows a large group of men approaching Ross in a small, crowded backstage area and attempting to surround him, with his entourage getting involved. The video shows a tense verbal argument that escalated into a couple of scuffles. Ross took an indirect blow to the head, sending his drink flying, but another identified person took the brunt of the violence.

Insiders said the brawl soon ended, but it was unclear if anyone was arrested. In a statement to TMZ on Monday, Ross said no one from his team was seriously injured, but did not speak for the group of attackers. Ross’s spokesperson added: “Vancouver is a beautiful city and he can’t wait to get back there.”

Ross has been very outspoken against Drake in this rap dispute over the past few months, and Drake has hit back a few times as well. In this case, Drake “liked” a post on Instagram about this attack, which included a general warning to “don’t come to Canada if you have issues with Drake.” The rapper also posted a post of his own on Monday wishing his followers a happy Canada Day, which some took as a subtle jab at Ross. Drake laughed and said, “Cheers to the whole country.”

Drake and Ross have worked together a lot over the years, which seems to be why they are at each other’s throats in this feud. Fans thought that Drake was dissing Ross in his song “Push Ups,” in which he raps, “Every song that hit the charts, he got from Drizzy.” Ross responded with a diss track called “Champagne Moments,” in which he accuses Drake of using ghostwriters for his music and having undergone multiple plastic surgeries.

While Drake mostly directs his anger at Kendrick Lamar, he also has a few lines for Ross here and there. This incident has fans wondering again if more diss tracks are coming – or if this feud could escalate even further.
