Princess Anne injured in horse accident

Princess Anne, the Princess Royal, who is considered one of the most popular and “hardworking” members of the British royal family, has been hospitalized with a concussion.

According to several sources including the BBCThe injury occurred while Princess Anne was at her country estate in Gloucestershire and was “consistent with an impact from the head or legs of a horse”.

We were unable to find out any further details, but it is assumed that the Princess was looking after a horse and not riding it at the time of the accident.

Buckingham Palace issued a statement saying the only daughter of the late Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Phillip was hospitalized after suffering a minor head injury and concussion. “The King has been kept updated and joins the entire Royal Family in sending the Princess his deepest love and best wishes for a speedy recovery,” the official statement said.

According to CBCThe accident prevented the princess from making her planned visit to Canada this week.

The Princess, now 73, has always been an equestrian, representing her country in the three-day event during the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal. Her riding skills were recently put to the test at the Trooping the Colour parade in London on June 15. A clip of her controlling a lively horse quickly went viral.

Her daughter, Zara Tindall, has followed in her mother’s footsteps and is an even more successful eventer. She won several European titles, individual gold and team silver medals at the 2006 World Equestrian Games and was voted BBC Sports Personality of the Year that same year. She was also part of the silver medal-winning Olympic team in 2012.

The same palace statement said Princess Anne was conscious and expected to remain in hospital until the end of this week “as a precautionary measure for observation.” Fortunately, however, she is expected to make a full recovery.
