Swimming coach arrested for sexually abusing an underage girl

A 42-year-old swimming coach was arrested in Thane for allegedly inappropriately touching a 10-year-old girl in a residential swimming pool, police said on Monday.

The incident took place on Saturday afternoon when the accused Mangesh Desle was training the girl.

According to the complaint filed by the victim’s mother, the trainer touched her daughter’s private body parts, a police officer said.

Desle was arrested under sections 354 (assault or criminal force on a woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 354-A (sexual harassment in the nature of unwanted physical contact and advances or demands) of the Indian Penal Code and under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, he added.
