Lowell family remembers 15-year-old girl found dead Friday – Boston 25 News

LOWELL, Massachusetts – The family of a 15-year-old girl found dead Friday after an alleged murder mourned together outside a Lowell Street apartment Saturday.

The family told Boston 25 that 15-year-old Ahliana Dickey was found dead by a family member on Friday, adding that she suffered serious injuries.

“Her aunt broke into the house because her father had a gut feeling something was wrong,” said Stephanie Wetherbee, the girl’s aunt. “She found her.”

The family added that Dickey was scheduled to graduate from eighth grade at a Lowell public school on Friday. They said she never stepped on stage.

Ahliana’s stepmother Miranda Wetherbee said the last two days had been unimaginable for her family.

With tears in her eyes, she continued: “A young woman who had not even blossomed yet, who had her whole life ahead of her, and someone took it from her, from all of us.”

The Middlesex District Attorney’s Office told Boston 25 on Saturday that the murder investigation is ongoing. Police found apparent gunshot wounds on the 15-year-old and shell casings at the scene.

The public prosecutor’s office has not yet reported any arrests in this connection.

Ahliana’s father Scott was speechless on Saturday.

In memory of his daughter, he added that he would miss “her wonderful joy in the morning.”

The District Attorney’s Office is continuing its investigation along with Lowell Police and State Police.
