A Texas lawyer was killed while trying to calm an angry McDonald’s customer

Authorities say a Texas lawyer who was fatally shot at a McDonald’s over the weekend tried to calm an angry customer just before he was killed.

The suspect was still at large on Wednesday afternoon. He is accused of shooting 46-year-old Jeffrey Limmer, an attorney with the Lewis Brisbois law firm, twice outside a McDonald’s on the Katy Freeway in Houston on Saturday, KTRK reported.

According to the Houston Police Department, the shooter was dissatisfied with the food he received and demanded a refund from employees. Limmer reportedly tried to calm the irate customer, who only became more frustrated.

Police said the confrontation eventually spilled into the parking lot outside the fast food restaurant, where Limmer allegedly pushed the man to the ground.

In response, the suspect retrieved a firearm from his nearby vehicle and shot Limmer twice. The lawyer then managed to stumble back into the McDonald’s, where first responders pronounced him dead a short time later, police said.

“He loved his family and friends very much,” Limmer’s sister Jennifer Thomas told KTRK. “Always laugh, make jokes and just love life.”

Police said the suspect fled the scene in an early 2000s blue Ford pickup truck, but did not provide a description or further details.

An investigation into the matter is ongoing and anyone with information about the case is asked to contact the Houston Police Department Homicide Unit.
