Security guard shot dead at CVS store in California

FREMONT, Calif. (NBC, KYMA/KECY) – Police are investigating after a security guard was shot at a drugstore in Fremont, California late Thursday night.

Police said the shooting occurred around 11 p.m. at a CVS store in the Fremont Hub.

Witnesses reported that there was a verbal argument between the security guard and another person, which quickly escalated into a violent confrontation.

According to police, the security guard was shot at least once and died at the scene.

The other person suffered multiple stab wounds and was taken to a local hospital. Their condition was initially unclear.

A CVS spokesman said in a statement Friday that the store was temporarily closed.
