PA House GOP calls for investigation into Boyle warrant

He combines his dislike in the manner of the Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner runs businesses and the now invalid arrest warrant for the state Rep. Kevin Boyle (D-Philadelphia), State House Republicans have questions and want answers.

House GOP members are calling Pennsylvania’s attorney general Michelle Henry to investigate Krasner’s handling of the arrest warrant and possible violations of election law.

“The involvement of District Attorney Krasner and his office in issuing and revoking the arrest warrant for Rep. Boyle on the literal eve of a primary election in which he was running for office raises serious questions,” said the Republican leader of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives Bryan Cutler (R-Lancaster). “Given the notoriously partisan and unprofessional manner in which Attorney General Krasner has conducted his office, a government investigation into how this high-profile matter was handled is appropriate.”

MP Martina White (R-Philadelphia) noted that the alleged conduct is part of a long history of disregard for the law by the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office.

“This case is symptomatic of an office that has repeatedly abused its power by not just ignoring the rules, but breaking them,” White said. “If a district attorney can mislead a grand jury and deny a police officer his civil rights, as Judge Kevin Dougherty found, we must face the reality that these are not isolated cases. It’s about systemic failure.”

Krasner told the Philadelphia Inquirer on Tuesday that this was just the latest attempt by Republicans to go after the city.

“We’re back to the same story all day long: ‘Let’s try to find a way to attack Philly, let’s try to attack an elected official in Philly, let’s try to demoralize and discourage voters in Philadelphia.’ “, he said.

The letter to the Attorney General was delivered Tuesday morning.
