1 woman dead, 2 seriously injured in fatal accident on the South Freeway

HOUSTON (KIAH) – On June 6, Houston Police and Fire Departments responded to a traffic accident in the 10,000 block of the South Freeway around 11 p.m., where they found a two-car crash at a traffic light, with one vehicle on top of the other.

According to police, one vehicle was traveling north on the slip road while the other was traveling east when one of the drivers ran a red light and struck the other vehicle.

At least one person was reportedly trapped in the wreckage. The Houston Fire Department (HFD) used multiple extrication tools to free the trapped person.

Three others were taken to nearby hospitals. A woman, the driver of a white SUV, was pronounced dead. At least one person is in critical condition.

The Houston Police Department (HPD) investigation is still ongoing.
