Ingleside woman killed in four-vehicle pileup on Tri-State Tollway

A 76-year-old Ingleside woman was killed in a four-vehicle pile-up on the Tri-State Tollway near O’Hare, authorities said.

The Cook County Coroner’s Office identified the woman who died in the car crash around 4 p.m. Friday as Bernice Pawilan, 76, of Ingleside.

According to the Illinois State Police, preliminary information indicates the four-vehicle rear-end collision occurred on southbound I-294 near Golf Road in Des Plaines.

Three other people involved in the accident were taken to local hospitals with various injuries, state police officials said.

The Illinois State Police did not provide any information about the cause of the accident.

While the accident scene was cleared and investigated, three left lanes were temporarily closed.

The lanes were reopened at 8:30 p.m.

The investigation is still ongoing, authorities said.
