SUV ran over indicator, car overturned after accident | News from Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: A person was injured on Wednesday when the SUV he was travelling in jumped the traffic signal and collided with another car at Secunderabad Club Junction. The video of the accident went viral.

Marredpally police said the driver, Naresh, who was alone in the SUV, suffered minor injuries. He is a businessman.

On Wednesday afternoon, he came from Kharkhana and headed towards JBS via Secunderabad Club Junction.

When the car reached the intersection, the traffic light, which was green earlier, turned red. Despite this, the SUV driver ignored the traffic light. When Naresh saw the car coming out of Secunderabad Club, he tried to avoid a collision with another car by trying to turn the steering wheel to the right. But a collision occurred. The car overturned three times and then came to rest upside down.

“Naresh was speeding and ignoring the traffic signal. At the same time, another car coming out of the club was on the road as it had a green light. The SUV hit the complainant’s car and overturned several times before coming to a stop,” Marredpally inspector N Venkatesh told TOI. The accident occurred around 1.30 pm. Immediately after the accident, local residents rushed to the SUV, whose windows and windshield were shattered. The driver was brought out of the car by passersby and a traffic policeman who were at the spot. The driver escaped with minor injuries.

Later, the local police arrived at the accident spot. The car was recovered using a crane. The police received a complaint against Naresh and a First Information Report (FIR) was registered under section 279 (reckless driving or riding on public roads) of the IPC. Traffic was hampered for some time until the SUV was recovered. The accident was captured by CCTV at the junction and went viral on Thursday.
