Man who allegedly filmed child sexual abuse must now answer to a federal court

PRIMERA, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A man who was arrested in January for allegedly filming the sexual abuse of a child is now facing charges in federal court, records show.

Rosendo Camarillo-Jimenez was initially arrested by Primera Police on charges of aggravated sexual assault, continuous sexual abuse of a child and sexual conduct of a child.

According to records, Camarillo-Jimenez made his first appearance in federal court Monday morning after being charged with sexual exploitation of a child.

On January 26, Primera Police, along with Homeland Security Investigations, executed a search warrant for a residence on Kika De La Garza Circle. Officers arrested Camarillo-Jimenez at the residence and transported him to the police station where an interview was conducted.

During the interview, Camarillo-Jimenez said he filmed a child while “touching” him, but the child was clothed, a criminal complaint states.

“Camarillo stated it was many years ago and he believed the video may still be in the apartment, but he was not sure where exactly it was,” the document states.

While searching the homes, officers found homemade videos of a man sexually abusing a child approximately 8 or 9 years old. The child was identified as the same person who reported to Primera police that she had been sexually abused as a child, the complaint states.

Authorities said Camarillo-Jimenez was identified as the man who filmed himself abusing the child.

At a press conference in January, Primera Police Chief Manuel Trevino said the victim in the case had been brave in going to police.

“Our goal here is to make the arrest and get a good case, whether it’s at the state or federal level,” Trevino said. “But it’s also about helping a victim begin to heal. We understand it’s a small step for them, but we want to be able to start that healing for them. That’s our ultimate goal.”

Camarillo-Jimenez remains in federal custody without bail.
