Man from the Palatinate is charged with drug and weapon possession following investigations by police and postal inspectors

Eric Alhourani

A Palatine man is facing drug and weapons charges following an investigation by the Palatine Police Department in cooperation with the U.S. Postal Inspection Service.

Eric Alhourani, 25, of the 400 block of East Thornhill Lane, was charged with illegal possession of 500 to 2,000 grams of cannabis, illegal possession of cannabis with intent to resell, illegal possession of a controlled substance and two counts of possession of a firearm without a valid FOID card, according to police.

When Alhourani was arrested, authorities said they found over 1,300 grams of cannabis, 13 grams of psilocybin, a large amount of US dollars and two handguns.

Palatine police said the joint efforts of their department and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service underscore the commitment of both agencies to combating illegal drug trafficking and related criminal activity in the community.

Alhourani was booked into the Palatine Police Department and later released. His next court date is June 4 at the Cook County Courthouse in Rolling Meadows.
