Houston Road Closures Map: I-10 East at Mercury Drive will be closed overnight June 2 due to asphalt repairs, according to TxDOT

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Repairs on the Eastern Freeway could slow down some drivers on their morning commute starting this weekend.

The main lanes of Interstate 10 eastbound at Mercury Drive will be closed from 9 p.m. Sunday, June 2 through 5 a.m. Monday, June 3 for asphalt repairs.

The Texas Department of Transportation is warning drivers that this closure will also affect the northbound and southbound connector ramps from the I-610 East Loop to eastbound I-10.

Drivers can exit Mercury Drive and detour onto the frontage road in either direction as an alternate route.

TxDOT said traffic control and law enforcement will be on site for the closure.

“TxDOT appreciates your patience and reminds you to drive with caution in work zones and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment. Area residents should use caution if driving, walking or ride bicycles near construction activity,” the agency said in part of a press release.

Additional information about the closure can be found on Houston TranStar and Drive Texas.

Closures are subject to change due to bad weather.
