A man reportedly kidnapped and abused a teenager on his way home from school in Salt Lake

On her way home from school, a 16-year-old girl was kidnapped and sexually abused in a man’s truck.

Tevita Hoihoi Mounga, 78, approached the victim in his truck in March as she was walking home from school, court documents say.

The victim told police she opened the truck door to hear what Mounga was saying as he pulled her into the car and drove away, documents say.

Her phone reportedly started ringing while she was in the truck when Mounga turned it off

After pulling into a parking lot, Mounga reportedly began sexually assaulting the victim.

According to the documents, the victim resisted Mounga and fled from his truck.

His truck was identified by the victim from camera footage taken in the area. She described the “Polynesian-style necklace” and pocket knife also found in his truck and then identified him from a photo lineup, police said.

Mounga is accused of aggravated kidnapping, two counts of sexual assault, three counts of rape with an object, aggravated sexual assault and interference with a communications device.
