Beyoncé’s childhood home in Houston catches fire on Christmas morning

Beyoncé Knowles-Carter’s childhood home in Houston caught fire on Christmas morning, but the mysterious fire was quickly extinguished and no one was injured.

Around 2 a.m. Monday, a fire crew arrived at the home, located in the 2400 block of Rosedale Street, and extinguished the flames moments later. When firefighters arrived, the second floor of the house was engulfed in flames, according to firefighters, reports NBC News.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, according to KTRK reports.

“We had it under control in about 10 minutes,” Houston Fire District Chief Justin Barnes told the Houston Chronicle.

Knowles-Carter hasn’t lived in the house since she was about 5 years old. The family purchased the home in 1982 and it was built in 1946. The family returned to Houston to facilitate charitable events and health-centered initiatives.

In 2020, Knowles-Carter worked alongside her mother Tina Knowles to provide mobile COVID-19 testing to the community as part of the singer’s BeyGOOD/#IDIDMYPART campaign.

The family who lived in the house, which is now recognized as a landmark, was able to escape unscathed, with no injuries, reports NBC News.
