Nicki Minaj arrested in the Netherlands before UK concert

May 25 (UPI) – According to social media, Nicki Minaj was arrested in the Netherlands on Saturday over an incident involving her luggage.

Minaj, 41, traveled from Amsterdam to Manchester, England, for a concert on her “Pink Friday 2 World Tour,” which is scheduled to take place at the Co-op Live Arena on Saturday night.

The rapper shared a video on your X-account Saturday afternoon, where a man is seen telling her that her luggage needs to be searched.

In a separate video that Minaj recorded on Instagram Live and then shared by fan accounts on X, she asked an Amsterdam police officer why she was arrested.

The officer in the video replied, “Because you have drugs on you.”

The rapper in the video denied carrying drugs and repeatedly asked for a lawyer when the police officer asked her to get into a car.

The officer was heard mentioning her concert on Saturday night and saying they would “try to get her there as soon as possible.”

A Dutch police spokesman told NBC News that “a 41-year-old American woman was arrested at Schiphol Airport for possession of soft drugs.”

A few hours later, Co-op Live posted on X that the entrance opening for Minaj’s concert had been moved from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Minaj then increased to X In a series of posts, he accused the airport of “trying everything in its power to stop this tour.”

“Now they said they found weed and another group of people had to come weigh the pre-rolled joints,” one post read. “Remember, they took my bags without my consent. My security already informed them that those pre-rolled joints belong to him. Oh yeah, and the pilot wants me to delete my IG post.”

Possession of marijuana is legal in Amsterdam as long as a person does not have more than 5 grams on them, according to the Dutch government website.
