The Russian army attacks Chuhuiv in the Kharkiv region and injures seven people

UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, May 22 – Russian troops attacked the center of Chuhuiv in the Kharkiv region in the morning, injuring seven people, Kharkiv Oblast Governor Oleh Syniehubov reported.

Seven people were injured in the Russian attack: a 28-year-old man and women aged 22, 55, 65 and 77.

Syniehubov later said that the Russians had also injured a 41-year-old woman. She is in hospital. A 42-year-old woman also sought medical treatment. Both have moderate injuries. A kindergarten was also damaged in the attack. Law enforcement authorities are still investigating what weapon the Russians used to attack.

Border towns and villages in Kharkiv Oblast have been under massive fire from Russian artillery and airstrikes since Russia launched a new ground offensive north and northeast of the region toward Vovchansk and Lyptsi on May 10.

The press service of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration reported that at around 4 a.m. on May 21, Russian forces shelled Bohuslavka in the Borova township of Izyum district and damaged a private house. No injuries have been reported so far.

On the same day at around 10 a.m., the Russian army shelled Lyptsi in the Kharkiv district with artillery, damaging outbuildings and a residential building.

Evacuations are currently underway in the region. According to Oleh Syniehubov, volunteers and rescue workers have evacuated 10,875 people from the border communities of Kharkiv Oblast.
