Man dead after collision with pedestrian in Gilroy

(KRON) – A man has died from his injuries after being struck by a vehicle, according to Gilroy police.

Gilroy police were alerted to a car-pedestrian collision on No Name Uno near St. Louise Regional Hospital around 12:23 a.m. Sunday. Upon arrival, officers found an unresponsive pedestrian lying on the roadway.


A nurse stopped to provide assistance. According to police, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.

A minor was driving the vehicle that struck the pedestrian. The driver remained at the scene of the accident and spoke to police. According to police, the driver does not appear to have been under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

The deceased was identified as a 32-year-old Gilroy resident. The victim’s identity is being withheld until next of kin are notified.
