Sioux City man charged with sexual abuse and false imprisonment

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) – A Sioux City man was arrested and charged with kidnapping and sexual abuse following an incident over the weekend.

According to a release from the Sioux City Police Department, they received a call around 8 a.m. Sunday that a woman had been sexually assaulted at a residence on S. Glass Street.

The victim told police that she had been dropping off items at the apartment the day before when 39-year-old Aaron Thomas allegedly became violent toward her.

The press release states that Thomas physically assaulted the victim and prevented her from leaving the apartment. While he held her there, the victim reported to police that she had been sexually assaulted multiple times.

The victim was able to escape the next morning and sought help at a nearby supermarket, police said.

After police executed a search warrant at the apartment, they said they found evidence of both sexual assault and kidnapping. Following their investigation, police arrested Thomas.

Thomas was charged with first-degree kidnapping, first-degree sexual abuse and false imprisonment. Thomas is being held in the Woodbury County Jail on a $26,000 bond.
