Man arrested for raping underage girl

A 22-year-old man was arrested from Dombivli area of ​​Thane district for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl from his neighborhood, police said on Saturday, PTI reported.

Thane Crime: Incident occurred in Sagarli village

The incident took place in Sagarli village, an officer from Manpada police station said. According to the complaint, the accused lured the girl to his house and raped her after threatening to kill her and her parents if she resisted, PTI reported.

The girl initially didn’t tell her parents about the incident. When she developed stomach pain two days ago and her mother took her to the doctor, she revealed everything, the official said, PTI reported.

Thane crime: Accused in police custody till May 15

A case of rape under Section 376 of the IPC and provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act has been registered and investigation is underway, he said. A local court on Saturday remanded the accused to police custody till May 15, PTI reported.

In a separate case, police on Saturday arrested a man for allegedly molesting a 13-year-old girl at a residential house in Thane district of Maharashtra, an official said, PTI reported.

Based on a complaint, a case has been lodged with Kolsewadi Police under Section 354 (Assault or criminal force on a woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the Indian Penal Code and relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act. registered station in Kalyan, the official said, PTI reported.

The accused, Mahesh Chavan (33), allegedly approached the girl, who was cycling on the premises of the building, on Friday evening, hugged her and touched her inappropriately, PTI reported.

The victim ran to her parents and narrated the ordeal following which they lodged a complaint, the official added.
