1 dead in Nashwauk after single-vehicle crash

At approximately 10 a.m. Saturday, the Itasca County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a fatal hit-and-run accident on 2nd Street near Larue Court in the Town of Nashwauk.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the accident was not due to a hit-and-run incident, but rather that the victim’s truck and travel trailer were unoccupied when they began to roll from their parking spot. The victim was then hit by a truck and a caravan trailer.

The victim is a 59-year-old woman from Silver Springs, Florida.

The victim died at the scene of the accident after life-saving measures were carried out. Deputies from the Itasca County Sheriff’s Office, as well as the Minnesota State Patrol, Hibbing Fire Department and Nashwauk Ambulance were those who arrived on scene.
