Clarkson teenager injured in accident on Highway 57

At approximately 12:45 p.m. Monday, the Stanton County Sheriff’s Office responded to and investigated a car crash that required a 17-year-old driver from Clarkson to be hospitalized. The crash occurred when the lone driver, traveling southbound on Highway 57, lost control of his SUV and it crossed the northbound lane, struck a wire railing, and then plunged approximately 40 feet down the steep embankment. It is a miracle that the SUV did not roll over during its steep descent into a field. The driver was taken by ambulance to FRHS in Norfolk where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Stanton Rescue and Leigh Fire and Rescue arrived at the scene approximately nine miles south of Stanton. Seat belts were fastened and airbags deployed.
