Two people thrown from water in boating accident in upstate New York; search for missing boater continues

According to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, the search continues this morning after a boating accident on Sodus Bay in the city of Sodus left two people thrown into the water.

Deputies reported that a single Cigar Boat collided, causing both the driver and passenger to be thrown into the water. The passenger was brought to shore by other boaters to receive medical attention and was flown by Mercy Flight to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment of her injuries.

Search for missing boater in Sodus Bay in northern New York State is underway

The Marine Patrol and Sheriff’s Dive Team searched the area into the early morning hours but were unable to locate the male operator. The search for the missing operator will resume at 7 a.m. Monday.

The investigation into the collision is ongoing.

Multiple agencies respond to boating accident in Sodus Bay

Responding to the scene were New York State Police, U.S. Coast Guard, Sodus Point, Alton and North Rose fire departments, Eastern Wayne, Silver Waters Ambulances, Wayne County EMS and Mercy Flight.
