Car crashes into guardrail at SW 156th Street & Maplewild Ave SW in Burien on Friday evening

On Friday evening, July 19, 2024, at approximately 8 p.m., a single-car accident occurred on SW 156th Street at Maplewild Ave SW in Burien.

According to police, the vehicle collided with a mast and a guardrail, causing the airbags to deploy.

Despite the severity of the accident, only minor injuries were reported. The driver and his two passengers were seen walking around and, according to a local resident, “looked fine.”

“Drivers come down the hill, around the hairpin and then around this wide bend, and they’re impatient because they have to slow down,” one resident told The B-Town Blog. “And then when they get to the straight in front of my house, they drive so damn fast!”

Officers from the Burien Police/King County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) along with King County Fire District No. 2 arrived at the scene and documented the incident. A road crew was requested to repair the damaged railing.

“This was one of approximately 30 car accidents reported yesterday in KCSO’s jurisdiction,” Deputy Mike Mellis told The B-Town Blog.
