Here’s When You Can Expect to See Storms in Houston This Weekend

HOUSTON – We are monitoring the possibility of rain for the weekend, but don’t worry! It won’t be a disaster. This means that with proper preparation, you shouldn’t have to train or drive in the rain!

Saturday rains:

We’ll start Saturday dry! Showers before lunch are expected to occur off the coast or well south of I-10. That means the earlier you can get your errands done or start running, the better!

After 1pm, you can expect to see showers and thunderstorms moving inland. Although the chance of rain increases after 1pm, there is still only a 30% chance that you will be caught in a shower or passing thunderstorm.

We don’t expect these storms to be severe, but lightning is possible and could strike frequently. This means that if you have outdoor projects, I recommend having a plan in case a storm hits your area.

Storms are expected to diminish after sunset.

Sunday rains:

Sunday should be similar to Saturday. The biggest difference is that we will see more coastal showers in the morning. Areas south of I-10 will start with wetter weather.

Areas north of I-10 can expect to see rain chances increase after 1 p.m. Storms near the coast will move inland by afternoon.

Thunderstorms will intensify as the day heats up. We will begin to see the influence of our next cold front Sunday night.
