Three family members killed in fatal collision in southern Utah

Three people were killed around 12:16 p.m. Sunday when the driver of a white Chevrolet Suburban crossed the center line on Highway 191 north of Moab at mile marker 151 and collided with a motor home towing a passenger vehicle.

The driver of the Suburban, who was traveling south, was traveling at a “high rate of speed,” according to the Utah Highway Patrol.

According to a statement from UHP, the driver and two passengers of the Suburban died. Two other passengers in the Suburban and two occupants of the RV were taken to local hospitals, according to UHP.

Police are investigating whether impairment was a contributing factor.

A GoFundMe post on social media identified the family as being from Mancos, Colorado. The parents and a three-month-old baby died; two other children were hospitalized, the post said.
