Restoration of PDNS 2 services completed after hacker attack | INSIDER

Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Hadi Tjahjanto has announced that as part of the recovery operation, a joint team from the Ministry of Communications and Informatics, the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) and PT Telkom managed to restore the services of the Second Temporary National Data Center (PDNS 2) for a total of 86 services of 16 tenants that had previously been disrupted by cyber hackers.

“Since the afternoon of July 12, 86 services from 16 ministries, agencies and local governments have gone online,” Hadi said in a statement on Saturday, July 13, 2024.

Several public services have been restored, including licensing services and information portals, as well as scholarship services managed by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology.

Hadi said the recovery process is divided into three zones based on data processing techniques. Data affected by the PDNS 2 hack is placed in the red zone and quarantined. The data is then moved to the blue zone for security reinforcement and vulnerability scanning.

“After that, the services can be put into operation or the public service data can be uploaded to another data center in the green zone, where it will be available for use again,” the minister said.

Hadi stressed that each recovery phase will be carefully managed to minimize potential vulnerabilities from cyberattacks that could affect public services.

“The government is cleaning the recovered data from suspected malware and viruses while strengthening the security parameters of the infrastructure,” he said.
