Restaurants ready for Taste of Buffalo this weekend

Buffalo, New York (WBEN) – A total of 43 restaurants and food trucks will participate in this weekend’s Taste of Buffalo in downtown Buffalo, offering dishes ranging from mild to wild, as well as twists on local favorites.

“It’s definitely going to be an exciting time, we’re very excited,” says Christian Gueth of Pierogi Pete’s.

Gueth is offering a hot honey bowl this year, along with other options like a loaded tots bowl and a 716 bowl, which feature toppings like bacon bits, cheese and sour cream.

With thousands of people flocking to Buffalo each year for the Taste of Buffalo, Gueth wants his restaurant to be among the best.

Amano Fresh Pasta is back for this year’s festivities, and Phil Proto says there were constant lines at his restaurant along Delaware Avenue. He recalls a mistake he made.

“We thought the closing time was the same for both days, and we found out it wasn’t, so we bought more food. We think we’ve got that fixed,” WBEN’s Proto said.

Proto serves rigatoni with marinara sauce, rigatoni with bolognese sauce, white cheddar sauce with jalapeño over cavatelli pasta and creamy mushroom sauce over gemelli pasta.

Carruba’s Chicken Pit will feature Nashville-style hot chicken.

“In Buffalo, you get mostly Frank’s Red Hot. But that’s just our Nashville seasoning,” Kelly said during his appearance on WBEN.

He says it’s been a busy month getting everything we need, including a team for this weekend.

Another new addition to this year’s festivities is Lime House Sushi and Ramen.

This year, they’re offering a Cheeto Shrimp Burrito, which features tempura shrimp, faux crab, cream cheese and Cheetos on the outside. Another dish is the Crispy Chicken Ramen, which the restaurant says is a best-seller.

The Taste of Buffalo runs from 11am-9pm ET on Saturday and 11am-7pm ET on Sunday.
