Suspect killed in police-involved shooting in Louisiana

LAFAYETTE, Louisiana (KLFY) – Louisiana State Police are investigating a police officer-involved shooting in Lafayette Parish.

The authorities said on Wednesday evening: Sheriff of Lafayette Parish Officers attempted to arrest suspect Tony Pollard, who authorities said was wanted for a series of violent crimes he committed over the past few days.

Authorities say that while attempting to execute an arrest warrant for armed robbery, Pollard refused to comply with several verbal commands from officers. Authorities say the suspect then began to move in a threatening manner, prompting officers to respond with deadly force.

Authorities said Pollard was wanted for armed robbery following a July 4 incident in which two firearms were stolen. He has also been named as a suspect in at least two other gun-related cases since then.
