1 dead in shooting at Oklahoma City motel

Oklahoma City police are investigating a homicide following a shooting at a motel off the Interstate 35 Service Road near southeast Grand Boulevard.

Police responded to the Executive Inn on Wednesday evening.

“Officers received a call that shots had been fired in the area. The victim was found at the scene,” said Sergeant Dillon Quirk of the Oklahoma City Police Department.

The victim was found in a motel room and taken to the hospital. Despite life-saving measures, the victim did not survive, according to police.

“Sadly, we recently learned that the victim was pronounced dead at the hospital,” Quirk said.

According to police, the suspect(s) fled the scene in a vehicle.

“At this point, we have not arrested anyone, no one has been arrested,” Quirk said.

The police have not determined a motive.

“It’s too early to determine what led to the shooting,” Quirk said.

Police and crime scene tape secured a second-floor motel room. Police said no one was injured despite the motel being occupied by multiple rooms and being close to a busy highway.

“One victim was struck by gunfire,” Quirk said.

Police said questioning potential witnesses and gathering evidence would likely take several hours.

“We’re going to be here at some point and investigate the crime scene and try to figure out what happened. What led to the shooting, what led to the victim being shot,” Quirk said.

Police said they were working on a description of the vehicle involved.
