Power ministry official suspended for dereliction of duty and accepting bribes – Telangana Today

Assistant Engineer Mallaiah allegedly accepted Rs 15,000 from a farmer to resolve a problem related to the installation of a new power transformer

Mancherial: Assistant Engineer of Nennal in Northern Power Distribution Company Limited (NPDCL), Mittapalli Mallaiah, has been suspended for dereliction of duty and accepting bribes from farmers, an order to this effect was issued on Saturday.

Assistant Engineer Mallaiah was suspended for being negligent in the performance of his duties and demanding bribes from farmers for providing his services.

He was criticised for demanding Rs 15,000 from a farmer to resolve an issue related to the installation of a new transformer. The farmers had lodged a complaint against him a few weeks ago.

After massive criticism against the engineer, the authorities launched an investigation and submitted a report that prompted the higher authorities to take action against Mallaiah.
