Diddy is the subject of a federal criminal investigation in New York

A federal grand jury in Sean “Diddy” Combs’ hometown of New York City is reportedly gathering evidence of sex trafficking and sexual assault in an effort to potentially bring charges against the artist and music mogul.

According to NBC News, Diddy’s legal counsel was advised last week by federal authorities in the Southern District of New York that the three-time Grammy winner was under criminal investigation. Although Diddy has not been arrested or charged with a crime despite the numerous allegations made against him over the past eight months, the investigation could lead to prosecutors seeking criminal charges against him.

The allegations against Diddy have been mounting since last November, when his ex-girlfriend, singer and model Casandra “Cassie” Ventura, sued him for rape, sex trafficking and abuse. The former couple reached a settlement less than 24 hours later, despite additional lawsuits from other women, including a former porn actress and a producer who worked on Diddy’s film. The Love Album.

“No matter how many lawsuits are filed, it will not change the fact that Mr. Combs never sexually harassed or sexually acted against anyone,” Davis said in response to the lawsuit filed by former porn star Adria English. “We live in a world where anyone can file a lawsuit for any reason and without evidence. Fortunately, there is a fair and impartial legal process to find out the truth, and Mr. Combs is confident that he will prevail in court against these and other baseless claims.”

Diddy has vehemently denied all allegations, but backtracked on Ventura’s case after footage emerged in 2016 showing him physically attacking him in a hotel hallway.

“I mean, I hit rock bottom, but I’m not making any excuses,” Diddy said in a since-deleted apology video. “My behavior in that video is inexcusable. I take full responsibility for my actions in that video. I’m disgusted. I was disgusted when I did it and I’m disgusted now.”
