1 dead after multi-vehicle crash in Sylacauga

SYLACAUGA, Alabama (WIAT) – Authorities are on the scene of a fatal multi-vehicle crash on Highway 280 in Sylacauga Tuesday afternoon.

The pile-up occurred around 2 p.m. and involved five cars at the intersection of Ft. Williams Street and Fayetteville Highway. According to Sylacauga police, one person was pronounced dead at the scene.

While the accident is being investigated, lanes on Highway 280 near the intersection are still closed.
