Police identify motorcyclist killed in multi-vehicle crash in Fairfax County

FAIRFAX COUNTY, Virginia (DC News Now) — In an update Friday afternoon, detectives and Fairfax County said the Motorcyclist killed in accident in Chantilly on Thursday was a man from Herndon.

Shortly before 2 p.m., officers were called to a multi-vehicle crash on Route 28 near McLearen Road. The crash involved a Kawasaki motorcycle, a Nissan Rogue and a Volkswagen Taos.

Investigators said the motorcyclist, 23-year-old David Arias Sandoval, was speeding on Route 28 while attempting to pass the Nissan. Instead, he crashed into the car, causing debris from the impact to hit the Volkswagen.

Sandoval died at the scene of the accident. The driver of the Nissan was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators said they were still looking into whether alcohol played a role in the accident.
