Sunbather impaled by parasol in bizarre beach accident in Florida

According to local authorities, a woman was recently impaled by a thrown umbrella while sunbathing on a Florida beach.

Sybil Licht was visiting Cocoa Beach with her family when her rented umbrella came loose from its place in the sand and flew toward the group, WESH reported, citing Cocoa Beach police.

The umbrella pole became stuck in Licht’s leg, authorities said.

Rescue workers had to use bolt cutters to detach the canopy from the pole, which kept moving while still inside the victim, officials told Fox News Digital.

How the bizarre accident occurred and what Licht’s current condition was was still unclear as of Wednesday afternoon.

The Brevard County Fire Department and the Cocoa Beach Fire Department responded to the scene, Cocoa Beach police told The Post.

The incident is said to have occurred on Saturday, but police could not confirm the date.

The fire department and emergency services did not respond to The Post’s request for comment on the incident.
