Roof of a van dangles from the bridge over Storrow Drive

Roof of a box truck dangled from the bridge over Boston’s infamous Storrow Drive

On Tuesday, a crumpled sheet of metal hung from a bridge over Boston’s notorious Storrow Drive, and a roofless delivery truck was spotted about a half-mile away. Sky5 flew over the accident and saw the debris hanging from the Massachusetts Avenue Bridge, blocking a lane on the east side of Storrow Drive. The truck apparently involved in the crash was parked on Clarendon Street between Beacon Street and Marlborough Street. Massachusetts State Police said patrol officers responded to the crash. Because of the low bridges over Storrow Drive, trucks are not allowed to use the road. However, accidents in which oversized vehicles crash into bridges are so common that they are known as “storrowing.”
