Oakland County deputy killed on the job: funeral and reward information here

ROCHESTER, Mich. – Funeral services are planned this week for an Oakland County sheriff’s deputy who was killed in the line of duty last weekend.

Deputy Bradley Reckling of the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office was shot and killed on Saturday, June 22, while following a suspected stolen SUV in Detroit. Officials said the SUV suddenly stopped, the suspects got out and fired several shots at Reckling.

Reckling, who was working undercover, was taken to the hospital where he died the following Sunday. Detroit police were still investigating the incident. Officials said there had been arrests but no one had been charged as of Tuesday.

A memorial service has been scheduled while the investigation continues. Reckling’s funeral will be held on Friday, June 28, at the Auburn Hills Apostolic Church on Squirrel Road in Auburn Hills. The wake will begin at 10 a.m. and the funeral service will be held at 3 p.m.

Reckling leaves behind his wife Jacqueline, who is pregnant, and his three daughters. A GoFundMe fundraiser has been set up for the family and has raised more than $230,000 as of Wednesday. Other charities have been raising money for the family, including through the sheriff’s office.

The sheriff’s office, along with Pixley Funeral Home in Rochester, erected a memorial in Reckling’s honor where people can pay their final respects.

In addition to his work as a criminal investigator, Reckling also worked as a police officer in a motorcycle unit. His motorcycle and equipment were displayed behind ropes and on Tuesday the flowers were piled up.

The funeral for Oakland County Sheriff’s Deputy Bradley Reckling is now scheduled for Friday. (Copyright 2024 by WDIV ClickOnDetroit – All rights reserved.)
