Land abandoned by BAVPA soon to be cleaned

BUFFALO — An abandoned lot across from the Buffalo Academy of Visual and Performing Arts is about to get a makeover, thanks to the Buffalo Dream Center.

Buffalo Dream Center Outreach Manager Dezmond McClinton talks to 7 News about the organization's plans for 447 Masten Ave.

“We want to bring Sunfest Pavilion and their ministry into the fold of the Buffalo Dream Center so that now we can improve everything here, just create something that will benefit the community as much as possible because we are a church that wants to do as much as possible to help the community,”

After the church leaders who originally owned 447 Masten Avenue died last year, the Buffalo Dream Center mobilized to complete the removal of weeds and rusty equipment by the end of summer.

But the ministry needs donations and volunteers to make it happen.

“We want to be able to do more for the community than we already do,” McClinton said.

Asha Glorioso, a media arts teacher at BAVPA, told 7 News Reporter she hopes the church will include students from across the street to make the field a centerpiece of the community.

“It’s a beautiful area with so much potential and so much love invested in it – it seems like it needs some love,”
