Morning storms give way to afternoon heat

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – Another hot day is coming in Alabama; temperatures will reach the 90-degree mark this afternoon, with more sun than clouds. But before the afternoon arrives, a line of morning showers and thunderstorms will move southward through the region. It won’t rain for everyone, but many of us will get brief showers through midday. We’ll take it – the quickest way to end a heat wave is rain, so every drop is a gift!

Speaking of heat waves: Unfortunately, this will last for at least a few more days.

Today we’ll reach temperatures around 35 degrees, but tomorrow will likely be the worst day of this hot streak. Buoyed by the intense June sun, temperatures will rise to 35 to 38 degrees Tuesday afternoon. Brutal. One bright spot is that some drier air will move into the state, bringing humidity down to bearable levels. Still, hot is hot, and Tuesday will be tough. Drink plenty of water before, during, and after outdoor activities. Take more breaks than usual.
