Man charged after stabbing on shopping street

A man has been charged after another man was seriously injured in a stabbing on a busy main road.

Police were called to High Street in Shanklin on the Isle of Wight at around 6.20pm (BST) on Friday.

A 50-year-old man suffered a stab wound to his back and a cut to his arm.

Aaron David Caley, 36, of Ryde, was charged with wounding with intent and possession of a knife in a public place.

He is due to appear before the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on Monday.
