Joy-Anna Duggar’s toddler hospitalized after choking incident

This just came in — 19 children and counting alum and member of the ever-growing Duggar family, Joy Anna DuggarAnd Austin Forsyth, Her husband recently recounted a terrible moment when their 13-month-old son, gunnerhad to be taken to hospital. The incident was revealed in a Friday, June 14, video on the couple’s YouTube channel, in which the former reality star detailed the horror that left her “pretty shaken for a while.” So essentially, this is what happened: The family was at a youth camp and Joy-Anna was feeding Gunner a piece of ham from her plate when he suddenly started to chokeThe reality TV star explained the whole story with the following words:


“I just gave him a little bit of my plate, and I had a piece of ham, like Thanksgiving ham, and I let him chew on it and take a bite, and he bit off more than he could chew and immediately started gagging.”

Amidst the chaos, Joy-Anna handed Gunner over to her father. Austin, a paramedic. “I started crying because I was like, ‘Lord, please protect him,’ like all these what-ifs were immediately coming to mind,” she said. Despite her efforts, Gunner vomited several times, couldn’t pass the piece of ham and had trouble breathing.


Realize the seriousness of the situation, The family decided to go to the hospital immediately, with Gunner even stopped breathing a few times during the trip. “I was just crying out to God, please save him, and I’ve never been at a point where I thought I was going to lose one of my children,” Joy-Anna said. At this point, the mother’s emotions were almost paralyzing, which she expressed with the following words:

“The thought just occurred to me that he was going to die and it was just horrible.”

The terrifying ordeal was dampened


Fortunately, Gunner eventually began to breathe easier and fell asleep. After arriving at the hospital, doctors performed tests, including an X-ray, came back clear too. Joy-Anna expressed her relief and gratitude, saying, “I was just so happy that God protected him and we made it to the hospital and that whatever was in his throat was no longer causing him any problems.”

Joy-Anna and Austin are also parents of Gideon who is six years old and Evelyn who is three years old. Although the recent scare was traumatic for the family, Gunner is now doing well! The incident happened just a month after The couple celebrated Gunner’s first birthday on May 19, 2024.
