Houston Astros fans take epic trip to all 30 Major League Baseball parks in 30 days

A lifetime of memories of America’s pastime in just 30 days.

Saturday’s Astros home game at Minute Maid Park was the final stop on a four-week stadium tour across our country and Canada for Karmen Barefield and Todd Nicholson.

The former Houstonians, longtime friends and big Astros fans took a trip to all 30 Major League Baseball ballparks in 30 days.

The stadium crew did laundry every five days or so, while she wore Astros jerseys to every game, ironing patches on the backs of uniforms while checking out the stadiums on her route.

They also have charms, pins and a ton of keepsakes. ABC13 was there as they finished their epic trip to Houston.

“It feels good,” Karmen admitted. “I’m glad we got through it. There were times when I was exhausted and wondering what I was thinking. It’s been a great experience, and now we’re back here to celebrate with all our friends.”

“Don’t be afraid to do this or something similar,” Todd explained. “You just have to commit to it. When retirement came around, we said it was time to go. Personally, I wanted to get there before the Oakland Coliseum closed. We were lucky to do it this year .”

Next season, the Oakland A’s will not play at the Coliseum as they will move to Sacramento ahead of the franchise’s move to Las Vegas.

Todd tells us his favorite baseball stadium was Wrigley Field in Chicago. The most beautiful, he said, was PNC Park in Pittsburgh.

But Karmen and Todd say there’s nothing like Minute Maid Park and being surrounded by Astros fans.
