LIRR service suspended on Ronkonkoma branch after person found on tracks

Morning rush hour service on the Long Island Rail Road’s Ronkonkoma branch was suspended Monday after authorities said a person was struck by a train east of the Farmingdale station.

The incident also affected trains serving Port Jefferson and Atlantic Terminal, the railroad company said.

Morning rush hour service on the Long Island Rail Road’s Ronkonkoma branch was suspended Monday after authorities said a person was struck by a train east of the Farmingdale station.

The incident also affected trains serving Port Jefferson and Atlantic Terminal, the railroad company said.

Details of the incident were not immediately available, but the railroad said the 7:10 a.m. westbound train from Ronkonkoma to Grand Central Terminal in Deer Park was delayed and the 7:28 a.m. train from Ronkonkoma to Penn Station in Brentwood was delayed.

The 7:47 a.m. train from Ronkonkoma to Penn departed Farmingdale at 8:12 a.m. instead. The 8:14 a.m. train from Hicksville to Penn was canceled.

At least three eastbound trains were also directly affected by the incident: the 6:16 a.m. train from Penn Station to Ronkonkoma was delayed east of Wyandanch, the 6:37 a.m. train from Atlantic Terminal was delayed in Hicksville, and the 7:24 a.m. train from Penn to Ronkonkoma was delayed in Jamaica.
